URGENT FOOT/ANKLE CARE

Porokeratoma Treatment Process

TREATMENT PROCESS

This is my current treatment process for Porokeratomas (clogged sweat glands) patients. Please watch the video for complete details.

  • 1st Visit - Evaluate your condition, trim off the painful callus, and apply salicylic acid to the area.
  • Pumice and Cream - Using a pumice and callus cream can help reduce recurrence.
  • Orthotics - Orthotics help offload the painful callused area to prevent recurrence.
  • Shoe Modifications - Sometimes wider shoes can be helpful, or a shoe-liner cut-out can take pressure off a painful area with a deep porokeratoma.
  • Excision - I sometimes recommend removing the painful porokeratoma with a 2-3mm punch excision technique.

RESOURCES

  • Orthotics -  Explanation of how and why orthotics help foot pain.

  • Oofos - Recovery sandals to wear at home for more support.

  • Shoe Recommendations - Here are my shoe recommendations and shoe-related resources.

PRODUCTS

Here are some of the best recommendations I have found on Amazon for starting treatment before you come into the office.
