URGENT FOOT/ANKLE CARE

Ganglion cyst treatment process

TREATMENT PROCESS

This is my current treatment process for patients with ganglion cysts, please watch the video for full details.

  • 1st Visit - Evaluate your condition, review x-rays, and possibly an ultrasound. We may draine the cyst and use compression if indicated.
  • 2nd Visit - Will evaluate the improvement of the cyst to determine if there is any recurrence.
  • Daily Rituals - These are the daily rituals that can be used with other office-based treatments. Wide shoes that do not irritate the cyst, compression sleeve or sock to keep the cyst from filling up again, coban around the foot or toe daily for one week after drainage of the cyst.

  • Draining of Cyst and Cortisone Injection - Cyst drainage can be helpful but there is a high risk of recurrence even with appropriate aftercare. Usually after drainage I have patients apply compression around the area to reduce recurrence.
