What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

  • Inflammation of the ligament (fascia) on the bottom of your foot.
  • Typically seen in people with a tight heel cord also known as "equinus."
  • Ligaments and tendons have poor blood flow that can slow down healing

What Exam Do I Need If I Have Plantar Fasciitis?

  • X-rays - This is the first type of exam that is used. Just because you have a heel spur does NOT mean you have plantar fasciitis
  • Ultrasound - This is a better indication of inflammation and injury to the plantar fascia.
  • MRI - This can be used at times if needed to help confirm the diagnosis.

How Do I Get Better Fast With Plantar Fasciitis?

  • Start with the most effective treatment options versus those things that are easy.
  • If you have pain over 1-2 months seek out a podiatrist for an evaluation.
